Busan, KT to Cooperate on Ubiquitous City-Project

KT and the Busan city government in Korea recently announced that they will cooperate on a project called Ubiqitous City. The project aims to connect the whole city to a wireless network, which will include WiBro and HSDPA technologies. KT and the city government will invest about 550 billion Won for the first phase of the project, spanning the period 2006-2010, and during these five years the focus will be on four sectors, including harbor facilities, transportation, exhibitions and conventions, and the health sector. The second phase of network construction will take place during the 2008-2012 period, for which an additional 770 billion Won will be invested, and which will focus on the educational sector among other things.
